HarpAdventures

About Us

HarpAdventures was founded in 2009 as a community engagement project by members of the Harp Pedagogy class at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. Members of the class accepted a number of students from the Baltimore area for beginning harp lessons. These students had the opportunity to rent instruments for a subsidized rental or rental scholarship, and were able to study ensemble as well as solo music. Students who wished to continue after their exploratory years were given a number of attractive options for further study.

The program has grown rapidly; we now have about 40 students from many Baltimore schools, and have introduced a small Adult Division. Starting in 2016, Harp Adventures developed a community partnership with the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation in Druid Heights, Baltimore.  Harp Adventures' teachers lead group classes of 5-10 students there twice a week.

Advanced Harp Adventures' students are occasionally invited to perform in the Peabody Harp Department monthly concert series "Harpscape," at venues around Mt. Vernon.  Please visit the Peabody Harp Department's Facebook page for more information about these upcoming concerts here
